Immortal Poker – An action packed movie
Those of you who love action, adventure, Sci-fi, and fantasy, you would definitely want to have a DVD of the famous film Immortal. Starring Linda Hardy, Thomas Kretschmann, Charlotte Rampling and Thomas M. Pollard this action packed film is directed by Enki Bilal.
Immortal is a movie that is set in the year 2095. It is about outer space and mutant humans. The central character of the film is Jill. Jill is not a living human being, for that matter, she not a human at all. To the audience’s surprise Jill’s organs are all at the wrong places. She has lost her memory. To be biologically precise, she seems to be only 3 months old as diagnosed by Dr. Elma Turner. Dr. Elma Turner considers her to be the most fascinating and intriguing genetic test subject she has ever come across. Dr. Turner gives Jill an identity. In addition she gives Jill a home. In return what Dr. Turner wants is that Jill becomes her subject for Dr. Turner’s research and experiments so that she can discover more about Jill’s interesting and unique case.
In this film, the New York City, in the year 2095 still has its past glory intact, including the Empire State Building and other high rise buildings. However the most stark new addition is that the skyline is now predominantly seen having a huge floating pyramid. It appears that this pyramid was sent by prehistoric Egyptian Gods. So why has the pyramid appeared in the sky? Is there a reason? If so what is it? The reason is that the Egyptian Gods want to get rid of the Horus. Horus is moving around the streets of Manhattan to find the most fitting human body in which he can live in. Veteran Thomas M. Pollard plays the character of Horus with aplomb. In Horus’ quest for a human body, he meets an outlandish blue haired girl.
Then there is Nicopol who is an ice-covered prisoner who is going to be discharged from the prison one year after the film is set. To add to the eccentricity, some of the prisoners are left to grow. However this is not really about growing, it is about dying in the process. Nicopol is also one of them.
This is the backdrop that is set by director Enki Bilal in the movie, Immortal. With its interesting plots and sub plots, it holds your attention from the beginning to the end. Immortal is the first in the league of films to shoot actors enacting all their parts against a blue screen, and then repositioning them in a computer created setting in post-production. Packed with eccentricities, action, surprises and unprecedented sequences, this movie grabs the audience throughout enticing the viewers’ senses. The film’s budget was €22,100,000 approximately.
Immortal, the Egyptian mythological fantasy is a must watch film if you are sci-fi and adventure fan. This is a power packed film. This film is liked by all those who adored films like ‘The Fifth Element’ and ‘The Matrix’.
